I’ve known photography forever. … as a young teenager being on the night shift at a pro lab on the Sunshine Coast, QLD.
Yes I know what film is and what a darkroom was.
As a photographer I’m not scared of heights, I’ll climb trees, I’ll stand in the middle of a busy road, I’ll get wet, I’ll run 500 meters up a gully, walk through knee deep mud, get into a helicopter, trip over rocks, destroy my favourite shoes, hang out of windows on the tenth floor, ride bareback on a horse backwards, I’ll go the extra mile because as a photographer I have wings. as a photographer I have me. as a photographer I see no sense in getting just the safe shot.
I have worked for some of the best in the wedding/ portrait arena in Australia.
5 years ago I married Kiwi photographer Johannes van Kan
and together we run Moda Fotografica in Lyttelton, Christchurch.
Last year everything changed, having a baby does this.
One thing that has not changed is my urge to speak through my photography.

Jo and Johannes,
So so sorry about the damage to your place. What you have there is brilliant. I’m hoping you’ll be able to sort it out.

Hi Jo
After hearing the combination of earthquake, Lyttelton, and old stone buildings in the press, we naturally thought of you. We are relieved to read in Johannes’ blog that you are all fine. Hope the damage to your home and studio is fixable.
Love and best wishes to you, Johannes, and the little one,
Haeryun and Langford
