Ida & Friends – a personal exhibition

Notes about the exhibition-

As parents we are very proud
What parent isn’t.
But we didn’t make it through to now without the much appreciated help of the people around us.
They all should stand proud as the alt parents/comrades in crime of Ida Valentina
Born on the 2nd of June at
Ida is now 9 months into life in the ‘real world’.
Over the last nine months we have casually photographed the things going on …. we realised early in the piece that it wasn’t just about her. it was also about her environment.
We feel privileged that she gets to grow up in the village of Lyttelton
Photographs become our memories.
Looking through all of the images we had collected we suddenly realised how much she has grown up.
We also realised there were gaps where for one reason or another we hadn’t photographed something for her.
We have no expectations of her becoming a photographer …
We are proud of her.
These photographs are here as a personal collection of images of Ida.
When she is older her recollection of this time will be coloured by the images we have kept for her.

With this exhibition we want to remind people of the importance and significance of having images of their families …. not just for themselves but for the generations to follow.
These images define time, place, and people to become memories for a future generation.
